DCP Bucket List

Hey guys! So my flight leaves 5 weeks from today! WHAT. HOW DID THIS HAPPEN!? Time is flying by (which is good because I can't wait). So this week the first group of arrivals got their e-mails for housing and they could only link (chose) with one roommate. I am PRAYING that that changes for my arrival date because if I can't live with the three girls I found I will cry my eyes out. So fingers crossed.

So moving on....I have compiled a DCP Bucket List and I thought I'd share it with you guys! It's a little on the short side but I wanted to make it as realistic as possible. So here we go....in no particular order....my DCP Bucket List!

1.Character Dining Experience- I don't care which one, I just want one!
2.See Every Stage Show- Growing up as a theatre kid I have a special place in my heart for any type of live performance.
3.See All Parades- I love love loooove parades they are just so magical.
4.Watch Wishes- You have no idea how excited I am!
5.Try to Eat the Kitchen Sink- I'll probably fail because I get full quickly but I'm going to try anyways!
6.Eat at Be Our Guest- Since I am so obsessed with Beauty and the Beast, this one is a must!
7.VoluntEAR- My interviewer told me all about Give Kids the World and how I can get involved with that organization and I definitely plan to.
8.Attend a Housing Event- Some people say they are lame but I feel like it's at least worth experiencing.
9.Have a candid picture from each park- Because who doesn't want that.
10.Buy Mickey Ears- I currently only own one pair, that is NOT enough
11.Visit Wizarding World of Harry Potter- I spent literally 3 years of my life pretending I was Hermonie and speaking in a British accent.
12.Go to the Beach- Who doesn't love the beach
13. LegoLand- Cuz why not?
14. Mickey’s Retreat- So this is a little clubhouse for Disney Cast Members and their families, definitely a once in a lifetime experience.
15.Grocery Bingo- Because free food obviously.
16. Disneybound- I'm already planning my outfit!
17. Picture with each princess- I love my princesses.
18. Eat around the world- My roommates (well hopefully roommates) have already planned for us to do this on my birthday which is really close to check-in.
19.Last person out of park- How cool would that be!?
20.Take a picture with each attraction sign- I'm all about the pictures.
21.Campfire at resort- One word: S'MORES
22.Movie night at resort- You have to admit that sounds fun!
23.All four parks in one day- This is quite the experience. From what I've been reading it sounds like in order for each park to "count" you need to ride one ride, see one show, and eat or buy something. I will do it.
24. Get a shirt from each park- I'm going to be broke by the time I leave but oh well.
25. Design a shirt- I think there's a place in Disney Springs to do this.
26.Complete Epcot Passport- Rumor has it you can ask Epcot to give you a passport to fill out which would be an awesome memory.
27. Get Pixie Dust- Since I'm working at BBB I will be giving pixie dust a lot but I definitely want to get some too!
28. Animation class- I can't draw for my life, but it would still be fun!
29. Buy a balloon on mainstreet- I've always wanted to do that.
30. Kiss Goodnight- The little goodbye they do as the park is closing.
31. Try pulling the sword- Suns out guns out guys!
32. Stay at a resort- This is something I've ALWAYS wanted to do!
33. Lefous brew- Because it's Beauty and the Beast AND it sounds delcious.
34. Celebrate birthday- Well this will be one thing I can DEFINTELY cross off, yay June 15th!
35. Host a game night- Assuming it's okay with my roommates, I'd love to host a game night, I love playing games.
36. Meet someone from each state (cp or guest)- A big goal but a cool one
37. Write down a memory from each day- How cool would it be to look back at all of them at the end? I can already feel myself getting teary-eyed!
38. Photo shoot in the park- MORE PICTURES PLEASE
39. Go to the parks alone- This would be such an interesting experience that I will never be able to do again (because why would I drive/fly to Disney and go alone...) but I definitely want to try it.
40. Make a magical moment- I can't wait to make magic for guests.
41. See a celebrity- This one is totally out of my control but a girl can pray.
42. Get a picture with mickey in each park- Again I say, MORE PICTURES.
And finally....number 43......

Ride at least one ride I’m afraid of. I am so afraid of rides you guys. I'm a BABY! I'll ride Splash but that's about it. Like honestly. So here are all the rides I'm too scared to ride...the goal is to ride at least one: Thunder Mountain, Space Mountain, Tower of Terror, Everest, and Rock N Roller Coaster. I hope I survive to tell you about it. To put it in perspective here is a picture of me on Splash....

I'm in the middle

A closer look....

Aren't a cute?
Okay I really need to do my homework now...so good-bye for now :)

The Application Process

Hey everyone! So currently I'm working on so much homework that my brain is starting to turn to mush. So I figured it was time for a little break. I can't believe that my flight leaves six weeks from day! Crazy! I am so excited I don't even know how to express myself!!! Kinda like this...

Well now that that's out of the way, lets get down to business (to defeat the Huns...sorry) and discuss my application process. For those of you who don't know, there are 3 parts to the DCP interviewing process...Application, Web Based Interview, Phone Interview. I'm going to break down each one for you.

Application: I submitted my application on February 5th 2016. The application is pretty basic. It asks everything every other job application asks, your basic info, work experience, school experience, all that jazz. Once you submit this initial application, a couple things can happen to you. You could get an e-mail for the Web Based Interview (this is what you want) this e-mail can come at anytime really, some people get it as quickly as 10-15 minutes after submitting. The other thing that can happen is something called "In Submission". This is not ideal but you definitely shouldn't give up hope! In Submission means that your application has almost been put on hold and won't be looked at until later (maybe never). Not many people get out of submission but it definitely can happen! I've heard that if you get put in submission that the next time you apply you should add some more details to your work experience. Personally, I got my invitation for the WBI about an hour after I submitted my application.

Web Based Interview: Once you're accepted to the WBI, you have 3 days from when you receive the e-mail to complete the interview. I did mine right when I got the e-mail which was the same day I applied. The WBI consists of a lot of situational questions and questions about your personality. The most stressful part is that the WBI is timed. Personally, I was so freaked out about getting the questions done in time but looking back on it I should have just relaxed. Take a deep breath, be somewhere distraction free, have reliable internet, and you will be just fine! You get your results of the WBI right after you click submit, you'll either be told thanks for your interest try again next season OR you will be offered a phone interview! When I went to schedule my phone interview I was so disappointed that the earliest appointment was two weeks away! Between the long wait and my schedule I ended up picking 10:45 AM (Arizona time) on Sunday February 21st....16 days from when I scheduled it.

Phone Interview: The final and most intimidating stage of the process. Since I had 16 days to obsess prep for the interview I definitely did some research! There are so many resources out there that give you tips and sample questions if you want to "study" before your interview. I took so many notes and practiced so many times but honestly, I didn't look at those notes AT ALL during my interview, it all just came naturally. So the day of my interview finally came and I got in the mood by listening to Disney music all morning long. My interviewer ended up calling almost 10 minutes early. When you schedule your interview they warn you that they can call anywhere from 15 minutes before or after your scheduled time, so be prepared for that! My interviewers name was Toni and she was beyond amazing! We had such a great conversation that at some points I almost forgot I was interviewing. You are going to read so many tips telling you to take notes, don't pace around, ask good questions, and yes all of these ideas are great (except I paced my entire interview haha) but the BEST piece of advice I have is to take a breath and just be honest! Things are going to go great :) My interview lasted exactly 20 minutes. I work at a pre-school so we talked a lot about that, how I would handle emergencies, what kind of work environment I like, and then we talked about the following roles: Merchandise, Seater, Character Attendant, Children's Activities, Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique and Attractions. At the end she asked me what 3 roles I was most suited for and why. I said Children's Activities, Character Attendant, and Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, mainly because of my experience with children. And that was it. My interview was over. The waiting game began.

My Acceptance: I got incredibly lucky, I had my interview on Sunday February 21st and I was accepted on Thursday February 25th. There are people who hear back a day after their interview and other people who interview on the first possible day and don't hear back until the last possible day, and there is absolutely no rhyme or reason! Even just waiting for those four days was soooo hard! I was checking my e-mail and dashboard like crazy! I actually got my e-mail while I was at work, I was only able to see the "Congratulations" part...I had to wait about 30 minutes before I could check my role and program. But seriously guys I was a mess! Running around my pre-school telling all my co-workers and dancing and crying. It was pretty awesome.

Well guys, that's it for my application process. Sorry for the incredibly long post but I thought it was all important stuff. I'll be back soon with my DCP Bucket List!

Have a magical day!

Welcome to the Magic!

Hi everyone! Let me introduce myself! My name is Kristin and I'm currently a student at Northern Arizona University studying Elementary and Special Education. On June 6th, I will be starting an absolutely amazing journey...The Disney College Program! For those of you who aren't familiar with the program, I will be living at Disney World and working there for 7 months! I know, it sounds way too good to be true! I will make a post in the next couple days all about my application process so that people who are interested in the program can have a little bit more information :)

So basically, a few weeks ago, I started a Vlog to record my journey! I've quickly learned I am SO technology challenged that I really struggle with these vlogs and I know that will just get worse once I'm at busy so...I've decided to blog in addition incase the vlog is a total fail...but if you're interested in checking out the vlog it's https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAETc01Z9XVpH-FP2b5eYgw :)

Here is a little bit about me and the details of my program...like I said, I'm Kristin and I'm majoring in Elementary and Special Education. I am such a Disney nerd it's not even funny. I'm obsessed with Belle and Sulley from Monsters Inc. In addition to Disney, I love singing, dancing, acting, writing, baking, working out, and planning my future classroom! As far as my program goes..I'll be at Disney World (my very first time there! Eeeeekkk!!!!) and my check-in is June 6th! My role is....BIBBIDI BOBBIDI BOUTIQUE!!!! An absolute dream come true <3

Well friends, that's all for my very very brief intro! But like I said...I'll be posting all about my application process in the next few days. I will also add my bucket list since I've already made a vlog for that.

44 days until I leave for Orlando and 46 days until check-in! It can't come fast enough!

Have a magical day!
